Why the Right Screwdriver Bit Matters

A simple guide to choosing TGK bits for your electric screwdriver

Why do screws slip?

Every time a screw slips or its head gets damaged, work stops. Most people blame the screw or the screwdriver, but the real problem is usually the bit.

Why the bit matters

The bit is the only part that touches the screw. A worn or wrong bit:

  • Slips out of the screw head
  • Damages the screw and the product
  • Slows the whole line down

A good bit fits snugly and lets your electric screwdriver work smoothly.

Meet TGK screwdriver bits

TGK bits are made for electric screwdrivers and are now available at Toolworld.

Bit type

   Sizes available

Phillips (cross)

     00, 0, 1 and 2

Torx (star)

       T7 to T40

Slotted (flat)

     SL4 to SL6

Hex (Allen)

     H1.5 to H6.0

They come with 4 mm, 5 mm and 6 mm round shanks or 1/4" hex shanks, in lengths from 25 mm to 200 mm. That's 66 bits to choose from.

How to choose the right bit

  1. Match the tip to the screw head: cross, star, flat or hexagon.
  2. Check the shank fits your screwdriver.
  3. Pick the length: short for control, long for deep screws.

Simple tips to make your bits last longer

  • Keep the bit straight. Hold the screwdriver in line with the screw. Driving at an angle wears out the tip faster.
  • Use the right torque setting. Too much force can damage both the bit and the screw.
  • Replace worn bits on time. If the tip looks rounded or keeps slipping, it's time for a new one. A worn bit costs more in damaged screws than a new bit costs.
  • Store them properly. Keep bits in a holder or box so the tips don't knock against other tools.
  • Keep spares ready. On a busy line, having extra bits on hand means no waiting when one wears out.

Who are TGK bits for?

TGK bits are a good fit for anyone who drives a lot of screws with an electric screwdriver, such as:

  • Electronics and PCB assembly lines
  • Appliance and product manufacturers
  • Mobile and electronics repair centres
  • Workshops and maintenance teams
